Redefining success — one talk at a time
Are you always brimming with crazy ideas? Do you want to build something from scratch? Are you passionate to achieve the impossible? If the answer to any of the above questions is yes, then you are at the right place. Starting up is no less than birthing a baby, or sometimes maybe even more. And people who startup are insanely driven to make a difference. In the words of Lakshmi Pratury, the CEO of INK, they are “billionaires of moments” — greedy, insatiable, and crazy about their ideas and experiences.
Here are the key takeaways from our incredible speakers:

Slow and steady, wins a marathon
“Be it the richest man or the fastest runner — we are always fascinated by point-in-time achievements. But life is a marathon. It takes years of training to run a marathon and when we try to run it as a 100-meter race, we fail. Starting slow is the key, you don’t want to exhaust yourself in the first 5 miles. A startup is not a flash in the pants, it’s a long term journey. Becoming a company and making a difference takes time.”
INK is a platform for innovators to share their crazy ideas and inspiring stories with the world.

The struggle is real
“Often, success is glorified so much that the pain and the struggle behind it are overlooked. The agony before the ecstasy of success is real. Entrepreneurship is an inward self-journey. When I started being an entrepreneur, I suddenly felt like my life got derailed. I had to look into myself to solve the outward problems.”

Change is an inevitable part of society — welcome to the digital age
“Our idea of love, sexuality, relationships, democracy, freedom, money, jobs, and our identity — all are undergoing profound change. We live in a digital world where the real power lies not with the government but with people who hold data. We are becoming data organisms. Data is being sold to advertisers all the time. I am not naive or reactionary to believe that data should be locked and saved. I think data as an asset should not only help corporations, countries, societies, but it also should help individuals. The same technology of AI, Machine Learning, and data sciences which help advertisers should help in increasing the happiness, efficiency, and money of individuals.”
Manthan is a tech company that designs prescriptive analytics applications powered by AI — on the cloud, for customer-centric businesses.

Revolutionising the tea industry
“You will never have fruits or vegetables that are more than three days old, because they’re usually not fit for consumption after that. But why is it that today, people are consuming tea — which is also an agricultural product — 6, 12, 18, and 24 months later? Because they aren’t informed. It is extremely important for you to ensure that you get fresh products. We at Teabox looked at things like these and decided to do them differently. We created India’s first cold chain process — not even the Tatas or the Levers have it.”
Teabox is a beverage company that delivers fresh tea from estates in Darjeeling and the Nilgiris.

Innovation is the key to staying relevant
In my opinion, entrepreneurship is not limited to launching a startup in your garage. It is not totally limited to a new idea outside of our company. Entrepreneurs also compete with intrapreneurs — and I look at myself as an intrapreneur. At ABI, we embrace a startup DNA to be admissible in this fast, technology-led world. We operate like a startup in order to be relevant for the next 100 years.”

Disrupt yourself to disrupt the market
“A vast majority of Indians do not know more than 25 words of English. However, I have realised that while most don’t really know the language, their adherence to the script, their love, and understanding for the anglicised version of vernacular languages, whether you call it Hinglish, Telgish, Tamilish or whatever, is going to be the future. Hence, we started this platform called ShareChat.”
ShareChat is a regional language social networking platform with approximately 50 million users in India.

Look out for moments of reinvention
“I strongly believe that every startup goes through some defining moments of reinvention, and their success and failure depends on these. They have to seize these pivotal moments and move on to the next orbit. I can sum up my journey or HealthifyMe’s journey in a sentence — we look at ourselves every two years, introspect, imagine our world as it should be, and then we find the courage to get there.”
